Frequently asked questions
Where do sessions take place?
Wherever you decide in New Orleans: at your home, a library or a café. Help-Me missions are in person; say the location in your request.
How do I pick the right tutor?
Describe the subject and level clearly. Tutors in New Orleans apply with a short message; check their reviews and verified ID badge before accepting.
What happens to the reserved amount if it isn't used?
It returns instantly to your wallet, fees included: if you cancel the listing, if a spot is never filled before the date, or if a mission is cancelled under the cancellation rules. You can reuse it for another request or ask for a refund to your card (5–10 days depending on your bank).
What does Help-Me charge?
A service fee of 8% of the price plus $0.99 per helper (CAD in Canada, USD in the US), paid by you on top of the price you set. The exact total is shown before you pay. The helper keeps 100% of the price. For example, a $100 job costs you $108.99 and the helper receives $100. If the spot is never used, the full $108.99 comes back to your wallet.
Are helpers in New Orleans verified?
Yes. Every helper must verify their email, phone and government ID (through Stripe Identity) before they can apply to a request. After each mission, requesters leave a rating that is shown on the helper's profile.
How do helpers get paid?
No bank account is needed to sign up or apply. When a payment is released, the full price is credited to the helper's Help-Me wallet. The helper transfers it to their bank account whenever they want: the transfer is sent immediately, bank details are collected by Stripe only at the first transfer, and a standard payout usually takes 1–2 business days depending on the bank (instant payout available for a Stripe fee on eligible accounts).
How does payment work for tutoring help in New Orleans?
You reserve the amount when you post: price × number of helpers + the service fee, taken from your Help-Me wallet (top it up by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link). When you pick a helper, the mission is paid instantly from that reservation and held in escrow, not paid to the helper. Once the helper marks the job done and you confirm it, the money is released to the helper's Help-Me wallet; without a response or a reported problem, it is released automatically 2 hours after the helper marks the job done.
